I write this from the Conference on the Policy Process (COPPR), convened this year in Syracuse, New York. I offered a pre-conference workshop on network analysis — thank you to all participants of the workshop! A special thanks is needed to the organizers, who have done a wonderful job. Conferences like this pose huge organizational challenges and three people deserve special recognition: Saba Siddiki, Davor Mondom, and Allegra Fullerton (Allegra organized the pre-conference workshops). This conference is kindly hosted by the Center for Policy Design and Governance.
The workshop was a very brief three hours; during this time we talked about the context of network analysis in research on the policy process, network theory, description of networks, and an introduction to the hRU. I originally planned to present on exponential random graph models (ERG models, or ERGM), however we ended up using this time to discuss theoretical and descriptive challenges of network analysis. Overall it was a great workshop!
For attendees of the COPPR conference, a video recording of the workshop (including slides) will be available to stream for the rest of the month of May at this link. It is password-protected to prevent access by bots. The passcode is the acronym of the conference, all lower case, followed by the “at” symbol, followed by the four-digit year of the conference. Human readers should have no problem with this. Please contact me if you have any questions, or if you are reading this after the link has expired.
